How to promote Affiliate Programs with a BLOG

Labels:

The easiest way to promote affiliate programs is off of your own website. The key is choosing the right products to promote and the right placement for the ads.
All programs will give you either a text/button/banner ad that you can place on your own website. Each link has a referral id built in it in order to track your commissions. A couple tips for this.... Make sure the programs you sign up for are relevant to your blog topic. If your blog is about dogs then promote affiliate products geared towards dogs or pets. The chances of someone going to your blog about dogs and clicking a link for car repairs is doubtful.
You can either simply place the topic relevant ads on your blog and let them earn a few clicks a day, or PROMOTE THEM. I see a lot of blogs that have ads all over them hoping that someone clicks one so you can make a small commission cheque each month. If thats all you want then keep it up.
I have found that if you write about the product in your blog people are more apt to follow through and click the ad. If you have any amount of loyal readers then they will listen to what you have to say. Don't go over board and have every post promoting a product, so keep writing good content then throw in a product promotion every now and then.
I'm not saying not to place the ads on the side of the page too, but promote them in your blog posts. And give a text ad link from your post to the product page.
Back to ad placement... DONT GO CRAZY WITH ADS! Pick 5 products to promote! Thats it... No one likes to go to a page that is cluttered with ads! If you have 5 ads on your page and see another one you wish to promote then swap the lowest earning ad out and replace it with the new one. You will see that the click through rates will increase and the amount of returning visitors will raise.
Place the 5 ads that you wish to promote in places where the most eyes will see them. And try to incorporate them into the content parts of your site. You want visitors eyes to pass over an ad and not have to look for it on the page. Placing ads at the top and the sides are good but if you can place the ads after each post then you will have a way higher click through rate.
I hope this article will shed some light on how to make the most out of your blog and will allow you to make changes for the better.
